Corning Dental Associates

In 1973, Corning Dental Associates was established in the Corning area by Dr. Timothy Bates and Dr. John Carozza.  In 1975, a new building was constructed and the practice was moved to its current location at 218 Denison Parkway in Corning.  In that year, Dr. John Gunselman joined the dental practice.  Corning Dental Associates has grown over the years, offering quality family dentistry to generations of families.  Dr. Dennis Vargas joined the staff in 2004 and Dr. Lynne Meriwether in 2007.

Dr. John Carozza

Dr. John Carozza graduated in 1972 from the State University of New York at Buffalo with his doctorate in Dental Medicine.  He is an active member of national, state and local dental societies. Dr. Carozza is involved with several study clubs and is a Fellow in the Academy of Dentistry International.  For many years, Dr. Carozza was a Chairman of the Steuben County Peer Review and assisted in Peer Review at the District level.  He is currently the Steuben County Representative of the Seventh District Dental Society.  Dr. Carozza has lectured on esthetic and castable ceramic materials nationally to numerous study clubs, as well as state and local dental societies.  He is currently President of the Advisory Committee of the Catholic Charities of Schuyler County.  Dr. Carozza provides dental care for the Catholic Charities of the Southern Tier.

Dr. John Gunselman

Dr. John Gunselman graduated in 1973 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine with a doctorate in Dental Medicine.  He served in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps from 1973 to 1975.  Dr. John Gunselman participated on the Council on Dental Practice for the New York State Dental Society from 1998 to 2006.  Currently, he is President of the Steuben County Dental Society.  Dr. Gunselman has been a dentist at Corning Dental Associates since 1975.

Dr. Lynne Meriwether

Dr. Lynne Meriwether graduated in 2002 from Binghamton University with her bachelors degree in psychobiology.  In 2006, she received her doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.  Dr. Lynne Meriwether completed a one year residency in General Dentistry at Strong Memorial Hospital in 2007.  In 2006, Dr. Meriwether received the Academy of Operative Dentistry Award.  and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society.   She is currently serving as Secretary /Treasurer of the Steuben County Dental Society.  Dr. Meriwether has been a dentist at Corning Dental Associates since 2007. 

Dr. Dennis Vargas graduated in 1997 from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with his Bachelors in Clinical Laboratory Science.  In 2001, he received his doctorate degree in Dental Medicine from the State University of New York at Buffalo.  Dr. Vargas served as a U.S. Air Force Captain in the Dental Corps until 2004.  He is currently the Vice President of the Steuben County Dental Society.  Dr. Vargas has been a dentist with Corning Dental Associates since 2004.
